Getting There:
Hire a private driver : to ensure a relaxing and efficient journey, consider hiring a driver for 8 hours. This option allows you to fully immerse yourself in the destination without worrying about transportation logistics. The cost for this service is approximately 3000 baht. A driver can be hired on the National parks website.
1.Hike Kew Mae Pan Nature Trail
For a safe and rewarding hiking experience, hiring a guide is essential for this trail. Keep in mind that it’s quite popular, so there might be a wait of up to an hour to secure one. The 3-kilometer trail is moderately difficult, offering breathtaking views and stunning rhododendron flowers along the way. As you ascend, you’ll enter a cloud-covered atmosphere with clouds stretching below. The trail winds through dense forests, past a picturesque waterfall, and opens up to a beautiful meadow at the summit. Don’t forget to dress warmly, as temperatures can be cooler at the top. Note that the trail is closed from June to October due to seasonal conditions. Check out this reel of our hike !
2.Doi Inthanon Summit
The Doi Inthanon Summit, towering at an impressive height of 2500 meters above sea level, proudly claims the title of the highest point in Thailand. Surprisingly, reaching the summit does not require a long hike, as it is only a short walk from the parking lot. While the ease of access might disappoint avid hikers, there are still delightful offerings to enjoy. Take a break at the on-site restaurant, where you can savor snacks and warm up with a cup of coffee. Additionally, a small market near the parking lot beckons with enticing street food options. One highlight not to be missed is the popular lookout point, renowned for its breathtaking sunrise views.
3.Two Chedis
Within the vicinity, you will discover two magnificent chedis, enveloped by enchanting gardens adorned with water fountains and a myriad of blooming flowers. These remarkable structures are a testament to the deep reverence for the royal family, showcasing exquisite architecture embellished with intricate carvings and lavish marble accents. After your rewarding hike, I highly recommend exploring these chedis and the accompanying garden as a serene retreat. However, do anticipate crowds, as this picturesque spot is popular among visitors and serves as an ideal backdrop for capturing memorable photographs. Notably, the chedis provide a splendid vantage point, offering breathtaking vistas to admire during both the day and the renowned sunset views.
4.Explore waterfalls (Wachirathan Waterfall, Sirithan Waterfall, Mae Klang Waterfall)
While Doi Inthanon National Park boasts several enchanting waterfalls, our time constraints allowed us to visit the captivating Wachirathan Waterfall. Conveniently located a short walk from the parking lot, accessibility is a breeze. Alongside the parking area, you’ll find stalls offering snacks and gifts for your convenience. Prepare to be awestruck by the sheer power of this waterfall, as it cascades with tremendous force. Take caution as you walk to the falls, as the path can be slippery. Witnessing rainbows dancing amidst the rushing waters is a breathtaking sight, and the mist from the waterfall may even leave you refreshingly dampened.
5.Phachor ( Grand canyon of Thailand)
En route to Doi Inthanon, you’ll encounter a captivating gem known as the Phachor Canyon, which is certainly worth a visit. This remarkable canyon has been sculpted over thousands of years by the relentless erosive forces of the Mae Wang River, as well as the influences of wind and tectonic movements. It’s advisable to arrive early in the morning to avoid the scorching afternoon heat. To access the canyon, you’ll descend a lengthy staircase that leads to a short trail leading you closer to its awe-inspiring presence. Standing tall at 30 metres, the canyon’s majestic formation will undoubtedly leave you in awe.
